CLEAN SPEED OIL PUMP SPRING — KTM LC8c 790 / 890 / 990

In every KTM 790 / 890 Clean Speed tested, oil pressure after the filter measured only about 30-45 psi with the factory LC8c 2 bar spring. This spring brings it up into the 40-80 psi range — in line with most modern engines with a gerotor oil pump.

It ramps oil pressure quickly from about 45 psi at idle to 65 psi by 2,500 rpm, then holds 70-80 psi from 3,000 rpm to the redline. Higher-rate factory springs (3.5-5 bar) tend to add little pressure at low rpm and spike at high rpm; the Clean Speed spring shifts the whole curve up while keeping a linear load on the pump and oil system — ideal for adventure, road and race use.

FEATURES

  • 40-80 psi (2.8-5.5 bar) oil pressure for the KTM LC8c parallel twin

FITTING TIPS

  • The Clean Speed spring is longer than the factory spring and needs more pre-load.
  • Use an 8 mm socket to remove the oil pan bolts, then use the same socket to help compress the spring into the oil pump.
  • The oil pan gasket is KTM part no. 63530086000 — a formed steel compression gasket. It can be re-used, but Clean Speed recommend replacing it while the pan is off.
